Junior Rifle Program
Please see our Range Schedule for Junior Rifle Times and Events.
The Brandon Wildlife Association is extremely proud of our Junior Rifle programs ability to train and teach the next generation of sport shooting enthusiasts. Our Junior Rifle program starts with the basic building blocks of safety and responsibility when handling firearms and helps prepare our participants for local, provincial and national competitions. Our Junior Rifle Club’s focus includes .22 rifle, air rifle and air pistol. We also have an indoor practice space where the air rifle and air pistol can be practiced year round.
Our program is divided into summer and spring portions. We meet once a week beginning in May through September and again in early April. The program begins by teaching safety on the range while handling firearms, followed by sportsmanship and shooting, in that order.
Students obtain hunter safety cards and graduation crests and certificates during their classroom activities. They also earn shooting crests in order of bronze, silver and gold, first in the prone position and later in kneeling and standing. The program provides Hunter Education manuals, safety glasses, hearing protection, ammunition, targets and small bore firearms during class times and range time.
